Biker Buff

Today, TJ and I went and splurged on new clipless pedal systems and swanky biking clothes. Afterward, we went and tested out our new acquisitions on a little ride down Alameda de las Pulgas to Stockbridge Rd, up and around Eleanor Drive and back again. I did the same route yesterday in running shoes and toe clips and wound up walking the second half of the Eleanor Drive circuit-- no mojo in my go-go.

Today though, thanks I'm sure to the bitching flames on my new jersey, we made it up and all the way around without stoping and feeling pretty great by the end of it. We wound up casually cruising around the Stanford campus, enjoying the golden hour light and then an energizing tailwind on the way home. We've got a long way to go before we're ready to get to the top of Skyline, but we're on the way. In style.

New Equipment Purchased:
  • Shimano M515 Pedals -- basic, cheap, reliable pedals
  • Shimano MA80 Shoes -- with recessed cleat
  • Trek 75in^3 under-saddle pouch -- now with more pouchyness
  • Trek Fuel jersey -- with sublimated flames!
  • Trek cargo biking shorts -- with integrated chamois liner
We went over to Chain Reaction in Los Altos. Their website was very extensive and gave me a good vibe. The store had a great selection and the staff was friendly. TJ and I especially appreciated the patience of our sales guy, Brian, while we asked stupid questions about the world of stretch-tight jerseys and butt-padded shorts. I'll definitely go back there again.

Myers-Briggs says:

Your Type is
ENTP
ExtrovertedIntuitiveThinkingPerceiving
Strength of the preferences %
67501278

ENTP type description by D.Keirsey
ENTP type description by J. Butt and M.M. Heiss

Qualitative analysis of your type formula

You are:
  • distinctively expressed extrovert
  • moderately expressed intuitive personality
  • slightly expressed thinking personality
  • very expressed perceiving personality
-----------------------------------------------

What is interesting about this, to me, is that the test gives you a relative position on each axis. This makes sense, and helps to understand why we might act or feel out of type from time to time. I wish OK Cupid did the same thing, I don't think I'm a very strong Hornivore...

Something I've put off for far too long

I am sitting here elated, electrified-- smiling and tearing. Opening my calendar, clicking the date, typing the event title in big caps as a label for Friday Oct 7, 2005:

LAST DAY AT CISCO

The script's end is marked.

The next monday I won't have to go to work. I can be at Camp 4 in Yosemite. I can be getting off a plane in Auckland. I can be anywhere in the whole fucking world. And I can afford it.

TJ is sitting here with me, chatting about it. He made the most beautiful suggestion. Let's go out tomorrow night, invite my close coworkers (a few already know my idea of leaving) and celebrate. We'll go to Trials. We'll drink to the rest of my life.

Thanks, Camille. Your little blurb on Tribe nudged me off the edge. Maybe one day I can return the favour.

This is not your blog

Funny. I keep switching back to this page, expecting it to be magically updated and commented upon. This page doesn't work like all the others.

This is not a great blog-thing

Damn. It's almost 1pm. I really should be getting to work. Good thing I don't do that blog-thing.

Who likes spring skiing? This guy!

I don't do that blog-thing

So-- I don't read blogs. I don't write a blog. So what is this? We'll see.
